Odense Reunion 2004 - DiaryMonday, June 21 |
I woke up at 3:30 and couldn't really get back to sleep
. Had a huge breakfast on the terrace
. Walked half-awake to Patricia's hotel. She and her husband took me and my pictures to Filosofgangen where we helped Becky, Marion and everbody to hang the exhibition. Patricia and me hung our pictures side by side, and Skipper brought in her pics which we hung on the opposite wall. Skipper and her friend left for København to have a bit of a holiday there.
On the top floor there were two Dutch girls filling a room with pictures of Madonnas. They had a lot of small paintings, and they also did a kind of mandala on the floor with small stones, sand and statues.
Becky had to go off to take care of the customs mess. Meanwhile, Henning from the gallery helped me organize our secret mission. He's a very nice guy helping with advice, getting tools, bringing pizza in the evening and staying late. Becky managed to clear most of the art through customs, so we had a shipment of art from overseas coming in, but there were still some pieces stalled at customs she hoped to get the next day.
We unpacked everything in the big upstairs room, so Becky could get an overview. She gave us instructions what to put where, and Patricia, her husband (who was a really great help
) and me hung the room where our pictures are while she worked in the main room with Marion and the other artists.
Just finished hanging my stuff. You can see some of Patricia's pics on the left, the ladder on the right and my artist's registration form on the floor. The pedestal for our portfolios was Patricia's idea
J's pictures went to the main room, and after our pizza dinner we hung always smiling's paintings in the big downstairs room. Most of the paintings went there, becaue it's got less daylight, which the photographs need. Henning helped us light the paintings. We made the center of Evolution glow.
There's a smaller room downstairs where there would be an installation. The people doing it arrived in the evening, so it wasn't set up yet.
Patricia and her husband took me home around 10:30, and shortly after Pinon returned from her dinner and we had a nice chat until two in the morning
Moreover, we found out we didn't trust the VCR (Pinon got it replaced the next morning).
BTW: I got designated our whiteboard painter by Becky. She remarked just how talented I was painting them all real white
.
This coffee cup became symbolic of this day. It is standing on a pedestal, and you can see some tools in the background.
