Odense Reunion 2004 - Diary

Friday, June 25

We were on the local news the previous night. They did all about the Viggo connection and forgot to mention what it really was about, so Becky was quite and planned to write a letter to the news show. They didn't mention we were 47 artists from 13 countries .

We started late for the Gallery crawl because we waited for more people to arrive. First, we went to Brandt's bookshop. A very bad idea, as I left 500kr the lighter . I got a gift for my Mom, Hole in the Sun, and Englehud by Marina Pagh which is a book of paintings and poetry. I guess I'll have to learn Danish now in order to read it Anyway, the paintings are great!

Next, we went to Fyns Kunstmuseum where they have local art of all epochs. Being hungry, we went to Froggy's afterwards to grab some lunch. Two more new people arrived and had a merry reunion with the triumvirate . Afterwards, we went to two galleries. The third one was closed for holidays.

In the early evening we had a crazy camera party at Viggo's bar. Everybody took their cameras out (lidia even had a videocam) and kept taking pics of the glasses hung on the ceiling and of each other. There were some guys there who do a mediaeval show, and their photographer joined in the fun.

At 19:00 we met for our EV dinner. We had a room of our own, which was great. Always Smiling had the time of her life handing me all these gifts, and I had it receiving them .

Thanks for arming me with a real Spegepølse !

The short story you gave me is hilarious. I also got a cheque which covered my expenses at the bookshop that morning, photographs from some of you, a medicine wheel from Kathyrene, Live at Beyond Baroque from Angela, Japanese RotK coverage from Eriko, and a certificate.

All the gifts - sorry, a bit underexposed...

After dinner we learned a lesson: Never try to split a bill in Denmark! Seems like you have to tell them before you start ordering, which we neglected to do. So, they test your knowledge of Dansk by leaving you on your own with it to figure it out . Thank you all for a refreshingly drool-free night!

We had some more drinks at Viggo's and left around midnight. Skipper and her friend headed back home, since they couldn't make it to the opening party and didn't want to spend another night getting rained on in their wet tent . In addition to the skin scraped off the top of my feet earlier while wearing sandals without socks in the rain, I got blisters underneath my feet walking home in too old boots and I tore a nail on my left hand, so I looked pretty banged up. Before going to bed, I showed all the gifts to mdf and she really loved them .
